Methodology Studies Committee

The Methodology Studies Committee was created in March 2019 at the request of the Members, with the purpose of developing a position for Rede ACV and its members on good practices regarding methodological issues in the standards that are considered subjective for LCA.

The Committee's specific objectives are:
– Promote an environment for sharing expertise
– Contribute with formal positions as Rede ACV
– Increase the quality and relevance of studies carried out in Brazil

To this end, the committee members hold meetings to align on specific topics through technical debate and the exchange of professional experience in conducting and reviewing LCA projects

Among the topics considered priorities for discussion by the members are:

1. Sources and quality of inventory data for LCA studies and comparative studies
2. Data collection
3. Uncertainty assessment in LCA studies
4. Communication of LCA studies
5. Life cycle impact assessment methods recommended for Brazil
6. Practice vs. ISO: how to meet requirements
7. Function and functional unit as the “production” of a given product;
8. End-of-life allocation criteria
9. Exclusion of impacts/flows in comparative studies
10. Good practices in Organizational LCA (O-LCA)
